The steering wheel was my starting point when beginning to explore
the three different themes.
It’s important that this item gives a good statement as it is the main
point of contact between the driver and the interior.
Using inspiration from suitable sources I aimed to create appropriate
form and aesthetic that would appeal to the intended customer group.

              For this theme I used inspiration from sports such as sailing
and windsurfing. In this dynamic environment, man made equipment is optimised to take maximum advantage of nature’s power.
   
The organic way in which the sail catches the wind, as well as the optimised characteristics of light-weight high-tensile booms and masts were particular points of reference.
   
   

I really wanted to inject a feeling of energy into the interior by using volumes and forms that appear to float in tension.

I modelled the final design in Alias AutoStudio, and from this file I was able to mill and rapid prototype the components to make a 1:3 scale model.
